The eight-part series was written by the film’s Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and produced by its original producer Uberto Pasoline (Nowhere Special). Now with children and grandchildren in tow, it sees the gang navigate Sheffield in a post-industrial era in which healthcare, education and employment are crumbling, but communal efforts can still triumph.
