Yorkshire Silent Film Festival has released Echoes of the North, a new film made from more than 100 fragments of archive film of northern life in the early 20th century. Rural life, wartimes and festivals, transport, holidays, family excursions and huge, city-wide occasions are all featured in the sixty minute film. It is accompanied by a new score – the first ever all-brass soundtrack for a silent film – composed by acclaimed composer, musician, writer and broadcaster Neil Brand.
